The Sting of Death by Penny Chavers

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

What victory will you have in death?  Has your life passed you by or do you have regret?Does death hold a sting for you or have you overcome death?

There is only one sure way to overcome death — that is through accepting the One who died for you, who gave Himself over to death that you might live.

He is the Savior of the world.  He overcame death and He is our victory!  Through the sting of the cross, He died for us.  Through His shed blood on that bloody cross who bore the scarlet sins of the world.  He was pierced with the sting of the sword in His side and the sting of the thorns in the crown they placed on His head was agonizing, to say the least.

He was beaten beyond recognition and, with the sting of the whip, they beat Him and mocked Him.  Hanging naked on the cross to bear our shame; but yet, He said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!”

What more could He do for you and for me?

He forgave His enemies and despite the cruelty of the cross, He loved them and interceded for them.  How is it that we have a problem forgiving one another and carry grudges refusing to let go of them?

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Our Pampered Football Players by Penny Chavers

we have people in this country who are so ‘pampered’ . . .

To those who live in America (including myself): sometimes we don’t know how pampered we are or we forget.  I, for one, though am proud to live in a country that is free and I thank God for that.  It breaks my heart to hear about those in other countries who have no freedoms and particularly those whose government is so corrupt that they take the very food out of the mouth of the children.  God did not intend it to be that way.

People in this country should really be grateful to be here and thank God that He made a way for them to be here, whether they were born here or not.  But, instead, we have people in this country who are so ‘pampered’ and/or filled with hate that they desecrate and disrespect our flag, our constitution, and the ones who died for the right to be free in this country.  It blows my mind!

If these people are so unhappy here in America, then why not leave and go to one of these other countries where you have no freedom of speech or anything else???  I guarantee that you would change your tune when you got there and then you would be so happy to be in America that you would never complain or protest again.  These football players who are refusing to stand for the pledge of allegiance should be ashamed of themselves — they make megabucks and are so spoiled rotten, it is a sin.  There are people who would gladly take their place.   Even in this country, there are people who are poor and needy and would appreciate the opportunity to be able to play football and would gladly stand for the pledge of allegiance.  I am so embarrassed at the football players who are acting this way.

Just shows how spoiled they really are!

Oh Mighty God! by Penny Chavers

Nothing is impossible with Him.

What a mighty God He is! Only He can change impossible situations.  Only our Mighty God can split the waters of division.  He can divide the evil from the good with His mighty hand.  With a blast of His nostrils, he caused the waters to separate when Moses raised his hands and the Israelites walked across on dry land.

He is so mighty that His son, Jesus Christ also did what He saw the Father do.  Jesus turned the water into wine.  He calmed the seas in the midst of the storm.  He walked on the water and Peter, while he was keeping his eyes on Jesus, was also able to walk on the water.  And not only did He heal the sick but He also raised the dead — Oh, Mighty God!

How can we deny the awesomeness of our Mighty God???  Nothing is impossible with Him.  So, why do we not trust Him with even the smallest of our problems?  If He can raise the dead, calm the seas, and split the waters, what is stopping Him from answering our prayers and meeting our needs?  Nothing — except our lack of faith!  Without faith, it is impossible to please God.  He honors faith — we must have faith and believe that He can and will answer our prayers!

The Most Glorious Name by Penny Chavers

There is nothing or no one more glorious than my God.

There is nothing or no one more glorious than my God.  He is glorious in holiness.  His name is glorious and to be exalted above all names.  His kingdom is glorious beyond all human imagination.  Let us make our praise glorious to Him.

Let the whole earth be filled with His glory.  All the works of His hands are glorious for nothing He created was tainted in any way.  The heavens that He created are glorious along with all the angels that He created. I will speak of His glorious majesty and power and give all glory to Him.

The glorious gospel of our Lord will be preached to all.  And then, one day, all who have received that gospel will have glorious rest when He, the Son of God, comes back in all of His glorious beauty and majesty.

When He speaks with His glorious voice, it sounds like the sound of many waters.  And He will sit on His glorious throne to rule upon His holy mountain.  He will present to Himself a glorious church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing but will be holy and without blemish.

So we look for that glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Daily Post Words”: God’s Word by Penny Chavers

So, I challenged myself to write a blog using the daily post words for the past several days into one post just for the fun of it.

So, I challenged myself to write a blog using the daily post words for the past several days into one post just for the fun of it.  The daily words are in bold.

The Word of God is priceless.  It is more valuable than any other possession we could own. It may not be ooh-shiny on the outside but on the inside it is like jewels not to be compared to anything else.  We need to memorize the Word of God so that we can recite it when we need it.  We have to educate ourselves in the Word so that we will be ready when that thorny devil comes around trying to unfurl his devices against us. He will lurch around a corner to willy-nilly attack us.  And if we do not continue to be enamored with God’s Word, then we can easily become his victim.  We need to have a visceral conviction in our hearts for God and His Word.

We should be giving homage to God with a crescendo of praise to Him.  Instead, we disobey His commandments when the devil entices us with a magnetic power and puts us in a trance and then we ooze the effects of sin in our lives.  No longer are we that peculiar people that we are supposed to be.

We are finite but God is infinite.  We cannot elevate ourselves above Him.  Instead we should dignify Him with the highest worship and honor we can bestow upon Him.

We need to synchronize our lives with the plan that God created for us instead of trying to recreate our lives for what we think we should be doing.

When it seems like we are always waiting on God for the answers to our prayers and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to our current situation or why we are having to wait for the answer to come, don’t feel alone or like you are the only one.  About the time you are wanting sympathy for your situation, you will come across someone else who is having to deal with much more dire circumstances than you are.

We may have a penchant for a flavorful steak but get a grainy piece of toast instead. But don’t lose heart, He loves you and does not leave you in that state but will bring the answer you seek if you do not give up!

May God bless you and give you His peace,

Ooh, Shiny!

To Overcome by Penny Chavers

. . . . many situations in life that we must overcome.

There are many situations in life that we must overcome.  Right now, there are many evacuees that have to overcome their circumstances in order to move on.  Some of them may not have a home to go back to or assuming they do, there may be extensive damage.  They will have to overcome their distress over the loss of property and property damage in order to rebuild their lives.  Some have even greater challenges in which they have to overcome the loss of loved ones during the raging storms.  Many people in Texas and Florida have suffered losses due to Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.  Through prayer and divine intervention, they can overcome.  God, the Father, knows what they have need of and has made provisions for them.  Provisions of not only physical items but also, and most importantly, provision of peace to sustain them through their trial.

God Inhabits by Penny Chavers

God inhabits our praise!

God inhabits our praise!  It is when we praise Him, that things begin to happen.  Our prayers can be answered through praise.  That is where the power lies.  Praise is our weapon against the enemy.  The enemy cannot stand our praise to God.  God created us to walk with Him and adore Him.  It is through praise that we show Him how much we adore Him.  Just as a natural father gives good gifts to his children, so does our Heavenly Father give to us particularly when we honor Him with our praise.

So, let us remember how He inhabits our praise!  God bless!

Prickle by Penny Chavers

A prickle can be a small thorn from a bush.

This word from the Daily Post this time is a prickly one.  Oh my what a word: prickle!

No it doesn’t mean a prickly pickle.  You may feel like you are in a “pickle” if you get pricked by a prickle.  A prickle can be a small thorn from a bush that doesn’t feel too nice on your skin.  Or you may be pricked with anger when someone hits you from behind when you are waiting at a red light.  Maybe you are in a prickly situation that is not too pleasant.

Like a feather under your nose gives you a tickle, you may feel the urge to have a pickle. But don’t go out looking to buy a sickle because you cannot harvest a pickle with a sickle. Instead just go sit down and relax with a Popsicle while the rain comes down in a trickle.

Okay, so I’m not the best poet (cough – cough).  Anyway, maybe somebody today could use some dry humor.  Ha Ha!
