“Ascend Above the Clouds” by Penny Chavers

Pride goeth before a fall.

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  Isaiah 14:14

This is taken from the passage in Isaiah 14:12-17 where satan was cast out of heaven. He was the most beautiful angel in heaven but because of pride, he was not satisfied with that.  He wanted to be like God Himself.  He allowed pride to come in and distort what God had created him to be.

He wanted to be worshiped so he persuaded a third of the angels to follow him instead of God.  Because of this, God cast him and that one-third of the angels out of heaven and there is a theory (which I tend to agree with) that this probably happened between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2.  If you notice, it says in Genesis 1:1 that God created the heavens and the earth.  And then in verse 2, it says the earth was without form and void.  Why is this if God had just created the heavens and the earth?  Since everything God created was perfect, then the earth would not have been without form and void.  So, it stands to reason, that something must have been happened to cause this.  In Luke 10:18, it says that satan fell like lightning from heaven.   [This is probably why it says in Proverbs “pride goeth before a fall.”]

I imagine that when this happened, it would have created such a force that it destroyed the earth (or “messed” it up pretty bad — anyway it was no longer perfect).  God does not and can not tolerate any sin in heaven so I am sure His wrath was kindled just a little when He cast him out.  So because of this pride that Lucifer allowed to enter into him, God not only cast him out of heaven but He caused him to become like a worm who was very ugly to look upon.  Instead of being the most beautiful angel in heaven, he became the ugliest of ugly, a worm.  That is what sin does to you — it can take you from the palace to the pit and turn your world upside down.  What once was beautiful and good becomes ugly and bad!

One day, if you know the Lord as your Savior, you will be able to see what the devil (satan) really looks like and you will be able to say “Is this the one? The one who caused me so much pain in my life — who caused so many problems for me?  Is this the one?”

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying,
Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof;
that opened not the house of his prisoners?  Isaiah 14:12-17

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.  Genesis 1:1-2

And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.  Luke 10:18

The Last Crumb by Penny Chavers

Ah — just one more crumb and you will be done and . ..

Have you ever heard your mama say, “You better eat every crumb?”

“And like it too!”  Well, imagine if that last crumb was what put you over the top because it happened to be the last crumb of the worst food you have ever tasted.  It was a recipe that your mother just had to try for the first time and you just happen to be the guinea pig — haha!  It was some rare form of a chicken pot pie with ingredients in it that you never heard of or wanted to hear of.  It had everything in it but the kitchen sink!

But you feel you have to eat it because you don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings especially your mother.  So, you are taking your time “enjoying” every morsel or that is what you say to her.  You tell her you are savoring every bite because it is “so good” while all the while, you are about to gag at every bite.  You turn your head away so she won’t see you make the most contorted faces ever.  You were raised to not disrespect your parents so you fight back the gag reflexes trying to get to that last crumb so you can be done with it.

Ah — just one more crumb left and you will be done and be able to excuse yourself so you can go relieve yourself in the bathroom.  Your hand quivers ever so slightly as you raise your fork up to your mouth with that last morsel — that last crumb.  But, then, all of a sudden, you begin to turn green and you can hold back the gag reflex anymore — oh no!  You feel this convulsing start to take place in your stomach and it is rising up your esophagus and then to the back of your throat!  Oh — oh — oh — but it’s just one more crumb!

But you drop your fork and before you can retrieve it, you lose it!  Suddenly, you have to make a bee-line for the bathroom FAST so all you can do is RUN to the toilet bowl and let it all loose!

And you were so close to consuming that last crumb . . .

Window of Revelation by Penny Chavers

He wants to warn us of things. . .

Have you ever had a dream that included a window in it?  If you have, it means that God is revealing something to you.  Dreams are mostly symbolic — not literal.  So, if you see a window in your dream, it does not mean that you are dreaming about a window.

I had a dream once where I was dreaming about a huge tornado coming as I was looking out this large window.  This huge black tornado was heading straight for the window as I was sitting in a chair near the sofa at my brother’s house.  I am still waiting for God to reveal to me what the entire dream means but I do know that He was revealing to me that some kind of storm was coming — probably not a literal storm though.  There are times when He will show you something in a dream that is literal and prophetic but, most of the time, they are symbolic whereas, visions are literal.

The dream most likely meant that I was going to go through some type of storm in my life because I have gone through a lot of stuff in my life — we all do. God speaks to us in our dreams if we will only pay more attention to them.  It is one of the ways He desires to communicate with us.  He wants to warn us of things ahead in our future so that we can avert disasters, avoid mistakes in our lives, and walk according to His ways and calling on our lives.
