“Ascend Above the Clouds” by Penny Chavers

Pride goeth before a fall.

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  Isaiah 14:14

This is taken from the passage in Isaiah 14:12-17 where satan was cast out of heaven. He was the most beautiful angel in heaven but because of pride, he was not satisfied with that.  He wanted to be like God Himself.  He allowed pride to come in and distort what God had created him to be.

He wanted to be worshiped so he persuaded a third of the angels to follow him instead of God.  Because of this, God cast him and that one-third of the angels out of heaven and there is a theory (which I tend to agree with) that this probably happened between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2.  If you notice, it says in Genesis 1:1 that God created the heavens and the earth.  And then in verse 2, it says the earth was without form and void.  Why is this if God had just created the heavens and the earth?  Since everything God created was perfect, then the earth would not have been without form and void.  So, it stands to reason, that something must have been happened to cause this.  In Luke 10:18, it says that satan fell like lightning from heaven.   [This is probably why it says in Proverbs “pride goeth before a fall.”]

I imagine that when this happened, it would have created such a force that it destroyed the earth (or “messed” it up pretty bad — anyway it was no longer perfect).  God does not and can not tolerate any sin in heaven so I am sure His wrath was kindled just a little when He cast him out.  So because of this pride that Lucifer allowed to enter into him, God not only cast him out of heaven but He caused him to become like a worm who was very ugly to look upon.  Instead of being the most beautiful angel in heaven, he became the ugliest of ugly, a worm.  That is what sin does to you — it can take you from the palace to the pit and turn your world upside down.  What once was beautiful and good becomes ugly and bad!

One day, if you know the Lord as your Savior, you will be able to see what the devil (satan) really looks like and you will be able to say “Is this the one? The one who caused me so much pain in my life — who caused so many problems for me?  Is this the one?”

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying,
Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof;
that opened not the house of his prisoners?  Isaiah 14:12-17

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.  Genesis 1:1-2

And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.  Luke 10:18

The Most Glorious Name by Penny Chavers

There is nothing or no one more glorious than my God.

There is nothing or no one more glorious than my God.  He is glorious in holiness.  His name is glorious and to be exalted above all names.  His kingdom is glorious beyond all human imagination.  Let us make our praise glorious to Him.

Let the whole earth be filled with His glory.  All the works of His hands are glorious for nothing He created was tainted in any way.  The heavens that He created are glorious along with all the angels that He created. I will speak of His glorious majesty and power and give all glory to Him.

The glorious gospel of our Lord will be preached to all.  And then, one day, all who have received that gospel will have glorious rest when He, the Son of God, comes back in all of His glorious beauty and majesty.

When He speaks with His glorious voice, it sounds like the sound of many waters.  And He will sit on His glorious throne to rule upon His holy mountain.  He will present to Himself a glorious church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing but will be holy and without blemish.

So we look for that glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Anticipation: what type do you have? by Penny Chavers

Not everyone is at the same level of faith. . . .

Anticipation: we anticipate many things and we either anticipate in a good way or a bad way.  Do we see the glass half full or do we see the glass half empty?  For example, when we have a disease and a new treatment or medicine comes out that is supposed to help with that disease, do we anticipate positive results or negative results?  To anticipate that good benefits will be the outcome is a wiser choice than anticipating a negative outcome or result.  It shows where our faith lies.  If we demonstrate our faith by anticipating good outcomes for the issues in our lives, then we are more likely to receive good results.

On the contrary, if we expect bad results, we are, most likely, going to receive bad results.  It’s not always easy to stay positive in light of our circumstances.  It seems like we have to face so many things in our life and life is not always fair to us.  For whatever reason, bad things happen to us all.  It’s not just physical problems like sickness and disease — it may be a financial situation, a family issue, it may be a simple problem or a complex problem — whatever the situation, faith can move mountains, if we will choose to operate in faith and allow God to strengthen our faith.  God has given each of us a measure of faith.  Not everyone is at the same level of faith.  Some have little faith — some have big faith — and unfortunately, some have no faith but whatever level we are at, we need to walk out our faith as long as we have at least a little faith!  And where we lack the faith to believe in a situation, we need to ask the Lord to help our unbelief (in other words, repent for our unbelief and ask Him to help us to believe).

Then, we can anticipate good outcomes in every circumstance in our lives and watch God move on our behalf!

Solitary — game or life? by Penny Chavers

God did not create us to be solitary. . .

Have you ever played the game of Solitary?  I have and after awhile, it can get pretty boring.  After beating the game so many times, it can be pointless.  Without someone to interact with, it’s just not very entertaining or challenging.

God did not create us to be solitary — to be isolated from others.  That is why He created Eve for Adam because He said it is not good for man to be alone.  We all were created to interact with others.  That is the reason why they punish prisoners by putting them in solitary confinement.  It has the potential to drive you crazy if left there too long.

The devil loves to get people to become solitary because that is when he can put all sorts of thoughts into your mind to tempt you to do his bidding — to tempt you to do something that could be detrimental to you or your family.

It’s never good to be alone.  It can lead to depression which can contribute to physical and spiritual issues as well.  That is why Jesus reminds us that He will never leave you nor forsake you.  He does not wish for anyone to be alone or isolated.  Everybody needs somebody.

The Glaring Sun by Penny Chavers

The end of time is coming soon. . .

The end of time is coming soon.  The signs are everywhere.  God gives us signs in the heavens and even during the tribulation period, He is using the sun, moon, and stars for His purpose.  He is so merciful and gives man every possible chance to repent.

According to the Book of Revelation, chapter 16, the sun will be so glaring down on men (much worse than the eclipse) that they will be scorched with fire and a fervent heat.  Despite this plague upon men by the fourth angel who poured out his vial, men continued to blaspheme God’s name with their glaring tongues.    And after the fifth angel poured out his vial, men were gnawing their tongues because of the pain but yet, they still refused to repent and continued to blaspheme God.

And by the time the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air, there was a great voice from the throne of heaven saying “It is done.”  Then there was such a great earthquake that every island disappeared along with the mountains, and great hail fell out of heaven.  Even still, men blasphemed God.

The Elemental Power Behind the Eclipse by Penny Chavers

A rare event . . .

CGS33853Yesterday was an interesting day in our world. A rare event that does not happen too often. What causes or creates these supernatural events? Is it just a coincidental event or is it a carefully planned strategic event? And if so, who is behind it?

Well, I will skip the scientific explanation and get right to the punch. It certainly is not “Mother Nature.” And it was no accidental event or coincidental event either. It most assuredly was a carefully designed and planned event by the One who knows all and created all things — God our Creator. He made the sun, the moon, and the stars and He made them for signs and for seasons to show us things. Things that happen in the future and to give us light for the seasons and to be light for us so we would not be in darkness. Not only does He not want us to be in darkness in the literal sense but also it is His desire for us to not be in darkness in the spiritual sense.

Got No Time by Penny Chavers

Got no time for all the things I want to do.

Got no time for all the things I want to do.  Too many projects with too little time to accomplish them.  Time is too valuable to waste.

Your boss may say “time is money” but, in reality, time is more valuable than money.  Money comes and goes but time stands still for no one.  Once it’s spent, it’s gone forever.  Whatever you want to accomplish in life, you need time in order to do it.  It’s best to decide what you want to spend your time on and then focus on that.  A lot of times (no pun intended), we waste too much time on things we regret later.  Usually, we figure that out after the fact.  Too bad we can’t learn that before we waste our time.  It would be nice to have a time machine so we could go back and change things.

The only one that doesn’t have to worry about time is God.  God is timeless.  He always was, always is, and always shall be.  He has no beginning and He has no end.  He is timeless — outside of time — a whole different dimension.  Wow!  How can our human minds even imagine that!

It’s amazing to me that God is so big and we are so small compared to Him like little ants but yet, He knows everything about us and everything that goes on in our lives.  He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.  Take time and think about that!  Wow!
